Return from Fraser Island: From the sand to the road again :P

Today we returned from Fraser Island since it was raining and because we probably had visited all the nice places over there. 🙂

After 2 hours driving we came to the parking lot, where my car had been parked. It was still there and we stuffed our luggage (only one backpack) into the trunk, said goodbye to the two Germans and went to buy some food and drinks.

Luckily it wasn’t a hole. My teeth have become very sensitive, probably because of the different types of food/drinks I have been consuming here.  The doctor gave me lots of toothpaste for my teeth and a bill for almost 200 dollars. :/ Dental treatment is very expensive over here.

This night we will sleep in the car, because we haven’t found a couchsurfing-host or a wwoofing-host in Noosa. 🙁 Don’t worry!  Jan and I know by now what to do in such a situation: Watch a film in the car. (Luckily I’ve got my netbook with me :))

Almost got stuck with 4WD, Lake McKenzie and a lot of fun

On Monday  we decided to drive to Lake McKenzie to go for a swim ( it’s forbidden to swim in the sea on Fraser Island because of venomous jellyfish. :/ ). But we noticed that after we had already been swimming in the sea for several^^ Everything’s okay 🙂 I am still alive. 😛 When going on driving to the lake we had to pass a big pit ( on the beach) and the engine of the 4WD stalled. Trauriges Smiley I was down and out, got stuck right next to the sea :/. Jan and I got out of the car and tried to find somebody to help us. But nobody was there. We had to return without a solution. The engine of the 4WD was still not running. After 5 hopeless minutes in our car and being in a very bad mood ,Smiley mit herausgestreckter Zunge suddenly a truck came  along the beach and stopped in front of us. The guys wanted to know what’s wrong with our car. Together we got the engine started again, it made a terrible noise but one guy said, that we had to keep the engine running because it was water inside. So we did. Smiley He was right. After two hours driving we finally  arrived at the lake without any more problems. We were really lucky and had a lot of fun. See the photos, guys. Smiley mit herausgestreckter Zunge

Dish-washing in the sea, ferry to Fraser Island, beautiful Fraser Island, Lake Garawongera and Maheno shipwreck

When I had woken up I started to take photos of the amazing surrounding (right in front of the sea), so absolutely staggering! 🙂

ThenIMG_4204 I went to wash up  the dishes in the sea, because we forgot to take water with us for dish-washing :/. It took me quite a long time, but since I was awake from 5 am, it was no problem. Then we had breakfast ( oats with banana slices and water) yummy! 😀IMG_4205

At 7 am we packed our stuff and continued our way to the ferry. 🙂 We had good fun on our way  Just have a look at the videos 🙂

It took us an hour to get to the ferry. On the road we found some 4 WD’s already been stucked in the sand. So we stopped and  tried to help them to get their stucked cars out of the sand. (push, push and push) 🙂 I tried so very hard, manpower of five guys together, but my group was waiting, we had to be in time for the ferry, and so  I left the guys, very exhausted, to continue our trip.

At 10 pm we arrived at  Fraser Island and started immediately to drive along the beach. 🙂 Have a look at the photos and  you can imagine why the trip would be funny and full of adventures. 🙂 All of us were in a very good mood, looking forward to discover this perfect and beautiful Fraser Island. I only hoped that we wouldn’t  get stuck. 🙂

We started to drive to Lake Garawongera, because we thought it would be an attraction and a ‚must‘ to have seen the lake, but it wasn’t, it was disappointing. Nevertheless, we went for a swim, and at about  midday we decided to go on and drive to the Maheno shipwreck (because of the tide times 12:57 and 18:57, we had to be careful when and where to stop.

Met Nadja with her 4WD (Four-Wheel-Drive), Ferry to Rainbow Beach and camping on the Rainbow Beach :)

At 12 pm we met Nadja (a German 22- year- old girl) with her Mitsubishi Pajero. We packed  our luggage into her car ( Jan and I shared his backpack) and started our tour to Rainbow Beach (our destination for today). To get there we had to catch a „ferry“ ( a transporter on a wire). As soon as we had arrived at Rainbow Beach, Nadja switched the gear to 4 wheeldrive and we started our tour along the beach ( it’s very hard to drive in the sand, she told us, and  only experienced drivers can handle this without getting stuck :/) But she is a good driver 🙂 At 5 pm we found our camping place and started to build up our tent.

(A  6-person- tent). Then  we prepared our dinner (noodles with tomatoe sauce) and a salad and after that we went to sleep. We would have to wake up early in the morning to get our ferry ( it is due to start to Fraser Island at 8 am :/ )
