Christmas in Downunder:

Today I woke up at 7 and had a really bad breakfast at my hostel. :/ Then I was picked up by Paul to take my travelmate to the airport because he wanted to leave to Sydney. We said goodbye and Paul and I drove back. I was really excited because of my booked bungee jump later on  (12:00 pm). As the van arrived in front of the hostel, I was so excited that I couldn’t speak a word all the way down to the Bungee-jump platform. Over there we got short instructions and I started as one of the first. 🙂 The moment when two guys prepared me for the jump, talking crazy stuff and making jokes about cutted ropes and so on, was the hardest. My heartbeat was 200 I guess, when I stood on top of the platform in 50 m height. It was definitely very insane but as soon as the guy had counted to 5, I jumped without thinking about anything and I was just feeling and enjoying  freedom in the air. During the fall all the adrenaline rushed into my head and I was shouting out loudly for 2 or 3 seconds, till I felt the rope twisting around my ankles  🙂 Then the watersplash made me feel alive again. I was so lucky/happy/proud, I had done it,  and from then on I was finally enjoying my Christmas in Downunder. 🙂 Watch the video and the pictures guys 🙂 MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU <3

Trip to Cape Kimberley, Blue holes, Cape Tribulation, Port Douglas and Palm Cove:

Today we started at 8 o’clock in the morning our huge trip to Cape Tribulation ( 3 hours‘ drive). We drove along the seaside and we got to know winding streets in Australia. It was a very beautiful road with a lot of lookout points.

On our way to Cape Tribulation the weather wasn’t really bright, so we took some beautiful photos on our return. Our first destination was Cape Kimberley, a really beautiful beach, but unfortunately we were not allowed to swim because of salt-water-crocodiles and stingers.

maybe it’s better not to swim^^

So we didn’t spend much time over there, just had a quick look to take some photos. 🙂 Then  we drove to the Blue Holes. These are very beautiful small lakes in the middle of the rainforest (are part of the Daintree Nationalpark). There we went for a swim and refreshed ourselves.

DSCF2242DSCF2243DSCF2241

I tried to swing on a root like Tarzan, but the root crashed down before I started to swing, luckily.:) We took some nice photos and continued our trip to Cape Tribulation (that point, where the reef touches the rainforest :P). We had lunch over there and enjoyed the amazing Cape Tribulation Beach.

Luckily the weather changed from grey and cloudy  to bright sunshine and we could tan in the sun. We spent about an hour on the beach, just lying down and being lazy. 🙂 Then we walked along the Marrja Botanical Walk (45 minutes) and saw some amazing plants.

DSCF2265DSCF2271

On our way back we stopped at Port Douglas for some shopping in the mall, but I had forgotten my money, so we just had a quick look and I couldn’t buy anything (proud of me^^NOT).

So, never mind. Later on we passed Palm Cove (just had a short drive-through) and then, after a a two hours‘ drive, we returned home  to Paul’s place. It was a lovely, very well-organized day, we saw lots of beautiful places and had wonderful conversations.

Trip to the Boulders, to the Zillie, Ellinjaa, Miilla Miilla Falls, Eacham, Barrine Lake, and to the Fig trees:

Today at 7 o’clock in the morning we started a trip to the Tablelands (beautiful area around Cairns) after having enjoyed a wonderful breakfast.  After an hour’s drive we stopped for a quick swim in a creek and then we arrived at our first destination, the Boulders.

DSCF2082DSCF2084DSCF2085

The Boulders are really beautiful, a place I can warmly recommend to everybody who loves a surrounding of pure nature. Then we went on and drove to the Zillie Falls, it took us again an hour’s drive. There, at once,  I jumped into the water, Jan and Paul preferred to stay on the banks and to take some photos.

DSCF2102DSCF2120DSCN1799

At our third destination, the Miilla Miilla Falls (highest Falls in the Tablelands) we took a shower and had lunch.

DSCF2137DSCF2129

YUMMI Lasagne and a fresh salad. It was really very impressive having our lunch in front of these amazing falls. Unfortunately after 10 minutes it started to rain, so we quickly had to stow our stuff into the car and decided to continue our trip to the Eacham Lake ( a very old volcanic lake). There we enjoyed the lovely view from inside the car (because of the heavy rain).:(

Then we drove on and headed to our last destination for today: The amazing Fig trees. These are really giant trees, so huge, massive and impressive you can hardly believe it. Just see the pictures guys 🙂

Dangerous North Cairns: at the wrong time in the wrong place:

Today we had just left our car to wait in the street for a guy who wanted to inspect and perhaps buy the car, when we suddenly found ourselves in a very dangerous situation, simply because of our clothes. ( Jan and I, both of us, wore some green singlets,  I  had put my new hat on and both of us wore sunglasses).  A group of 8 guys came approaching us and asked us whether we’d got any problems. First of all we thought they wanted to help us and we said „no thanks, we don’t have any problems, don’t worry“. But one of them, the biggest, became aggressive in his voice and wanted to know, whether it was us, who had chased one of his gang members with our green car last night. (Bad luck, we were standing in front of our car, and our car was green),  but we hadn’t been out at all, yesterday night, it was a misunderstanding. First of all I tried to tell those guys, that everything was a misunderstanding, that they took us for somebody else, but they didn’t believe us, and because both of us were wearing  green singlets, probably exactly as the guys they were looking for,  we really  looked like gang-members  ourselves :/ I hated myself for having bought this stupid hat, and we got really scared, when one of them touched his pants and we could see, that he had a gun in his pocket. 🙁 The same idea struck Jan and me: run away. But we couldn’t, there was no chance. So we stood still and neither said anything anymore. Some of the guys went away, probably looking for other possible members of a rival gang, searching in some gardens and stuff. I felt like a figure in a computer game, where gang- fightings are as normal as eating, but this was no game, this was real, and we got caught up in this damned threatening situation. After half an hour (which felt like two hours being scared to death) suddenly the police appeared and the guys did a bunk.  Still under kind of shock, Jan and I drove home to Paul’s flat  (hadn’t sold our car, the potential buyer had turned away when the gang appeared) :/ and we can only hope never to get involved in such a dangerous and frightening situation again. :/

One day diving at the Outer Great Barrier Reef:

Today we got up at 7 o’clock and Paul drove us down to the port. There we got on a boat, that took us to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. The boat ride was horrible, the sea was really rough and many people got seasick. :/ Luckily, I took some anti-seasickness-pills in advance ( I got them from a very lovely couple from California)  otherwise I would have ruined my diving-excursion. 😛 At the diving-spot we got our equipment and some instructions from the diving supervisor. Then I was the first to go into the water. 🙂 It was such a nice feeling to breath underwater, I didn’t really want to stop anymore, but after one hour I had to. I  couldn’t take photos with my own camera, because we were 10 m deep, and my camera is only proofed to 6 m, so we could only buy the photos of the professionel photographer afterwards. 🙂 The underwater life was so colourful and amazing, I felt like diving into a new world. There were colourful corals,  different kinds of the most colourful small and big fish all around, and at some places some sharks, too. 🙂 After the diving-trip we did some snorkelling but couldn’t spot as many fish as on the ground, at the depth of 10m, so we stopped and had lunch. 🙂 At about 3 o’clock we started to return to the port and arrived there at 4:45 pm. We were really exhausted and happily jumped into Paul’s car. ( He was waiting for us at the port!! 🙂 Such a nice guy! 🙂 ) It was a very amazing trip and we saw awesome fish, sharks and corals.

See the pictures guys. 🙂

Life at a nudist’s place:

The last couple of days we spent just sitting around all naked and enjoyed our lifes as nudists, went to the pool and went shopping. One day I bought a new hat.

DSCF1993Having returned to Frank’s house today, our host said, that he was not well, and couldn’t host us any longer. So we searched for a new couchsurfer and found one very quickly. His name is Paul, he’s also a nudist and lives in Cairns, too. We drove to his flat, and it was awesome, Paul is such a friendly man with a really cute cat and such a nice flat.

DSCF1985DSCF1988DSCF1991

He cooked us a delicious dinner, and we had several really good conversations with him. We felt at home from the beginning, his flat is a place you never want to leave again. 😛 We planned some trips for the next days, and he offered to show us around. Follow my blog 🙂

See ya guys 😀

Heading to Cairns, visited Jourama Falls and met our Couchsurfing-Host in Cairns

Today I woke up in the car all alone, because Jan stayed at the hostel for one night. We had stopped for one night in Ayr, before going to Cairns to meet some old friends and to party on  Saturday night. We’d had a lot of fun and I had returned to my car really late. Nevertheless I picked Jan up at 7:30 am and we started our roadtrip to our northernmost destination  Cairns. On the way we stopped at the Jourama Falls and took a bath  in the rockpools.

DSCF1951DSCF1940DSCF1945Then we took a natural shower in the falls. 🙂 We had spent one or two hours there before we continued our roadtrip (450 km) to Cairns).

DSCF1968DSCF1962 For lunch we had a crab burger,  we bought it at a petrol station as well as the typical stop>revive>survive -coffee (it’s afforded by the Queensland goverment to reduce the amount of car accidents, which are often caused by overtiredness. 🙂 The crab burger was delicious 😀 but really expensive. We paid 13 AUD for one burger (100 g crab). Erstauntes Smiley

At 5 o’clock we finally arrived in Cairns.Smiley DSCF1973First of all I bought a new beard trimmer at Target’s, because my old one gave up and I really needed one. My beard is growing at high speed over here, it’s incredible. :P. When we arrived at Frank’s ( our new couchsurfing host) at first we didn’t know what to take with us, because Frank is a nudist and we weren’t allowed to wear clothes in his house. So we just took our washing necessities with us and left the backpacks full of clothes in our car. Frank is a really friendly man and we  had some easygoing conversation with him. Smiley He told us where to get our food and so we went to buy something to eat  for the next couple of days ( I will stay here till the 19th  Decembre 🙂 ) It was such a funny experience to sit all naked during the whole conversation and not to dress after having had a shower, I really enjoyed it. It’s very comfortable without clothes and a really interesting experience for my life. 🙂

Of course I am not allowed (and don’t want) to take photos…sorry guys I can just tell you it’s a nice house with a big pool. Pure relaxation 😀

Sailing trip 2.day and return to Airlie Beach:

This morning we woke up at 6:30, had breakfast and continued our trip. DSCF1662Destination today was Whitehaven Beach ( most beautiful beach in the world). I decided to wear a  Santa-Claus-hat for the day, because it was the birthday of my best friend, and to create some kind of Christmas atmosphere in Australia ( hard enough without my family, my friends and without snow :P)

I miss you guys a lot <3

The beach was amazing. The sand was so soft, the water so turquoise and the temperature really gentle and warm (no sun 🙁 ) 30°C. 🙂 At Whitehaven Beach I took very good photos of thebeach, the entire group and of myself.

DSCF1767

They were all very pleasant and friendly fellows, and we had a really good time together and a lot of fun. After returning from Whitehaven Beach, we had dinner (bread rolls with vegetables and salad, delicious 🙂 )DSCF1874

and sailed to another spot, called Luncheon Bay, where we started our second snorkel trip. This time the captain joined us and showed us around. There were shoals of colourful fish in the water. I saw Nemo (Clownfish) and Dory from the film „Finding Nemo“. There were beautiful corals and, no doubt,  this was part of the Great Barrier Reef. Smiley It was so amazing and I managed to take some close-ups of some very special fish. Enjoy the underwater life of the Great Barrier Reef. Smiley

Back on board we had a little snack (Dorito chips with different kinds of vegetables and cream). DSCF1867This night, when we had come to anchor, I got to know some very nice English girls and we had a lot of fun. When having a party on deck, we saw dolphins  and I almost ate a jellyfish. DSCF1673

In the middle of the night it started to rain cats and dogs, and  I decided to sleep inside. I woke up at 5:30 and was very exhausted for lack of sleep for the last days. After having had breakfast we stopped at our third snorkel spot. This time the captain build a swing (rope with a sling) to jump or swing over board. I started with a frontflip and by the end I did a few backflips. Check  the photos 🙂

After this funny activity it was time to return to Airlie Beach (two hours sailing). We said good-bye to our friends

DSCF1898DSCF1612DSCF1902

and went to our car. Luckily, it was still there. 🙂 At 2 o’clock we continued our roadtrip to Cairns.

It was the perfect sailing trip, I hadn’t become seasick and I highly recommend the trip to everybody who wants to go to the Whitsundays.

Sailing trip to the Whitsundays 1. day:

This day we stowed all our stuff into our rucksacks, parked our car in Coles and went to the Abel Point Marina where we were going to enter our boat, the „Condor“. DSCF1474DSCF1476DSCF1478Coming there we found a lot of people already waiting to go on board. After some instructions by the captain and the deckhands, we put all our stuff on the boat and here we went. Our beds were in the kitchen

Our sailing-trip started ( and I hoped not to become seasick)DSCF1486

It was a sunny day, and we spent half of the day on deck to get a nice teint.

DSCF1507

I got to know a lot of  people from different countries and had easygoing conversations with them. A few times we had to help the deckhands to lift the sail, hard work, but a good experience and very funny with the whole group ( everybody about the age of 20-27 and half boys and girls. When we came to our first snorkel spot we got diver’s-suits,DSCF1603 DSCF1513snorkel equipment and started to snorkel. We saw many corals but not so many fish. I took a lot of photos. Check it out 😛

DSCF1524DSCF1567DSCF1571DSCF1588DSCF1596

Later on we had chicken for dinner and spent the whole night chatting and playing games with the whole group.

It was a wonderful night sleeping on deck and watching the stars.

Thieves stole our money out of the car, Airlie Beach is dangerous!! :O

This morning we decided to park at the car park and charge our devices in the shopping-centre. MISTAKE!!! When we had returned, we found our car open and the locker in the front broken, both of our wallets were spread over the seats, our money was stolen. It looked like a mess. Normally we never leave our wallets ( with 300 Dollars and 250€) in the car but today we did.MISTAKE!!!!!! We felt so helpless and angry and considered who could have done that. There were a few people ( backpackers), who we had got to know just the other day, and we learnt, that we couldn’t trust anybody  anymore, except ourselves. So we checked the whole car whether something else was missing. For God’s sake all our tickets, ID’s and other documents were still there. We decided to forget about informing the police, because there was no evidence of a crime at all. All windows were intact and the doors could be locked, too. We don’t know, how the thieves had made it to get into our car. That has been the biggest shock on our whole trip so far. Jan and I decided to have lunch in a good restaurant. So we did, went shopping to buy some stuff we would need for our sailing-trip tomorrow. :/ We weren’t in a good mood but tried to forget about this. Tomorrow is another day and we will never stay a night at this bay again.
